I don’t know if this tracks for everyone, but picking up little things to add to my beauty routine used to be a primary source of joy in my younger years. When someone with my tendencies totally sucks at achieving a nice hair look via traditional methods, a queen of cheap hair tools is birthed. I wish I were kidding, I have two entire massive built-in closet drawers just filled with hair stuff that I’ve collected over the years – I could probably stock a hair salon. Embarassing for me, fortunate for you. If you’re looking for budget-friendly hair accessories, I’m your girl!
1. AIMIKE Scalp Massager Shampoo Brush, Soft Silicone Scalp Scrubber, Scalp Brush/Exfoliator for Washing Hair Dandruff, Scalp Massager Hair Growth Stimulator, Wet Dry Scalp Hair Scrubber: If you don’t have one of these and you’re trying to grow out your hair, or you struggle with your scalp seemingly being greasy straight out of the shower, get yourself a cheap in-shower scalp massager. This silicone scalp scrubber by AIMIKE is under $10, feels great in your hand, and has the added feature of giving you an option to hang it up. When I was trying to grow out my hair I didn’t realize build up on my scalp was hindering my progress – started using a budget-friendly scalp massager and my scalp has never felt cleaner!

2. Curl Defining Brush Curly Hair Brush Vented Hair Brush for Detangling Defining Curls For Women and Men Curly Hair: Here’s another great affordable hair product that I’ve even gifted to several family members. This curl defining brush is basically a WetBrush, but it has little nodules on the ends for the curly/wavy girlies. You can pay $50 for something like this, but in my opinion this $10 budget-friendly brush works just the same. If you haven’t ever heard of a curl defining brush I urge you to look it up on TikTok – they can be real gamechangers!

3. 6-Piece Metal Hair Slide Combs: Speaking of game changers. Have you ever seen these hair combs? No? Same. I was influenced and was not disappointed. Those with longer hair, at least collar bone length, may be as impressed by these affordable metal hair combs as I am. You can create and secure a cute bun without even using a hair tie. There are a variety of size options, all under $10. To be honest, I use these the most when I want messy space buns, but they are a cheap option for any updo, largely to eliminate the need to take 200 bobby pins out of your head at the end of the night. I’m not sure what kind of sorcery these are injected with, but if you are looking to get creative with your hair on a budget, these hair pins are for you!

4. Hairitage 3 Barrel Curling Iron for Beach Waves and Curls: Coming in at under $40 and often on sale for less is the hair waving tool that I seriously can not live without. Long, short, thick hair, it can work for anyone. If I don’t want to wear my hair straight and I don’t have time to do a traditional curl (which is almost always), I’ll reach for this budget-friendly 3-barrel waver. I can do my entire head in under 10 minutes. That means no more disappointing looks from the hubby for taking too long to get ready for a night out, woo! We love a win-win! It locks closed, has a long swivel wire, heat settings for all hair types, AND is affordable in a space where good hair tools feel like they come with a $100+ price tag. It even feels luxe and certainly doesn’t feel or sound like it’s going to explode like some other wavers I’ve tried. I will sell my Dyson dryer to continually replace this thing if I need to, but I’ve had it (and dropped it on tile more times than I care to admit) for almost 2 years – I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon. If you want a budget beginner friendly hair tool for beach waves, run – don’t walk.

5. French Concord Hair Clips 6-Pieces: I had another hot tool for you, but it’s currently sold out, so enter these hair clips! I love a claw clip as much as the next gal, but have you ever tried to drive for more than 5 minutes with one? I don’t know if these clips have always been “a thing” and we just all decided to torture ourselves, but if you haven’t tried them you can always get a pack of 6 of these French Concord Hair Clips for under $10. Bonus, they are a lot harder to break than a claw clip, and they don’t feel like they’re going to impale you when you press them on a seat back! I once made the mistake of buying the Calia brand. They gave me 3 for $20. These are the EXACT same thing with double the pieces. If you are not a claw clip girly, but want a claw clip look on a budget, go grab yourself a pack of these! Beauty no longer needs to be pain ladies.
